The psalm begins with a plea by the people that the Lord God would hasten to help and deliver those who are praying.

The general thought of the psalm is God’s entrance into His sanctuary on Zion in Jerusalem and His rule over the whole world.

This psalm of King David was intended to be sung in the worship service. The psalm concerns the treachery of false friends who seek to destroy faith.

The first two verses are David’s anguished cry pleading for God’s mercy and grace.
